The Economic and Financial Crime Commission EFCC led a March against corruption involving Youth Corp Members in the wake to create awareness on the negative effects of Corruption.
Nigeria is ranked 146 least corrupt Nation in the world out of 180 Countries which make Nigeria 34 Most corrupt Country after report by Transparency International on Nigeria Corruption Data chart and calendar update in February of 2020. The March lead by EFCC among Nigerian successors generation to be at the vanguard in the fight against corruption with a 10 million man walk across Nigerian Cities. The EFCC was joined by the National Youth Service Corp with some Governors who call on Nigerian youth and demand them to say no to corruption march the streets and call on all Nigerians to stand against corruption. One of the officials of the EFCC Michael Nzekwe spoke to news men “ A lot is happening with the youth in terms of corruption and we want to use them to fight corruption not allowing them to be victims of corruption, the youth are more in population, the future belongs to them, they have a lot of strength and they are the agents of change”.
The major objective of the March is to gain the support of the youth in the fight against corruption. The Governor of Kwara State Commend the Initiative of EFCC and urge them to keep up the good work. Meanwhile, The Governor of Plateau State; Simon Lalong Challenge the EFCC to set up An-ti corruption clubs in Secondary schools in all the secondary school in the state.
The recent effect of Corruption in Nigeria has been declared as enemy no one by the federal government and this has push more institutional framework to fight corruption while the Commission continues to make recoveries, high profile convictions of corrupt officials. The hope is however that, now that the youth are joining the fight against corruption, more success towards wining the war against corruption is by the Conner.
