The Officers of the Nigeria Security ad Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) in Kano State have arrested an 85-year-old man for kidnapping a three-year-old boy from his neighbourhood.
The spokesperson of the Corps in Kano, Ibrahim Idris Abdullahi, in a statement, said the suspect, Ibrahim Usman, was arrested at Yar’Adua Quarters, Rimin Kebe, Ungogo local government area by operatives of the NSCDC Ungogo Division.
“The victim, a three-year-old boy from the neighbourhood, was abducted by the 85-year-old suspect, Ibrahim Usman, and tried to hide him in his friend’s house at the Hotoro bye-pass in Kano State.
“Having suspected foul play, his friend refused to keep the boy in his custody and alerted the residents where the suspect lived at Rimin Kebe who had been looking for the missing boy.
“This development led the suspect to run away and he was later nabbed by personnel of the corps in Ungogo division,” the statement read.
While explaining further about how the alleged suspect got so close, Mr Abdullahi stated, “It is noteworthy that the suspect has been obtaining the victim’s father’s phone number for the past two months, but has never once given him a call.”
Abdullahi added that the suspect will face charges in court after the investigation into the case is complete.
